During idw's annual meeting on March 11-12, 2010, the idw Award for Science Communication was presented. The award aims at promoting excellence in Communication. idw grants the idw Award for Science Communication to press releases that are distinguished by their professional quality, outstanding news value and scientific importance (quality, relevance, originality). 71 press offices from science institutions from Austria, Germany, Israel, Sweden and Switzerland had contributed. The winners are:
